# Website Chat Room

The chat room is a public chat page right on the platform’s domain. A visitor opens it in a browser and immediately talks to your bot: no Telegram, no installs, no signing in to an account. The design is as simple as it gets — just the conversation, nothing extra.

## The bot directory

Bots enabled for the chat room are shown on a shared directory page with their description and an “online” status. Every bot has its own short address — `/chatroom/help-desk`, for example. So a visitor can pick the right bot without going into Telegram or the application.

## How to enable it

The bot’s settings have a separate chat room section: the toggle, the address, the title and the description. Turn it off — the bot disappears from the directory, and the address stops opening new conversations. Conversations visitors already started do not disappear.

## Visitors without registration

Every guest gets an anonymous identity, and their conversations are kept on their device. So on the next visit from the same browser they continue from the same place — nothing is lost. A name can be given voluntarily: the same name is used in all conversations with your bots.

## The conversation list and an optional account

On the left is a tab with all the guest’s conversations with different bots: search, a channel tag, the last message and time. A conversation can be switched and continued — each has its own state. Optionally, a visitor can register (name, email, password) or sign in. On sign-in, all anonymous conversations of that device move into the account and become available on any other device. Signing out returns the device to its anonymous state, while the account itself stays intact.

## Linking with Telegram

A visitor can link their Telegram to the website. They get a short one-time code and a link to open Telegram: open it or send the code to the bot — and the Telegram conversations appear in the website list, ready to continue from the site. The link can be removed too: Telegram conversations stop showing on the site, but the history stays on the server, and the link can be re-established at any moment. Telegram is shown in the link management by a readable name, not a number.

## The same behavior as in Telegram

Messages from the site go through the same path as in Telegram: the same scenarios, the same rules, the same handoff to an operator. Buttons, delayed messages, broadcasts and operator replies all work. If the bot is stopped, the page honestly shows “offline” and sending is rejected — the client will not think they were heard.

## Real-time updates

Replies arrive on the page at once, without a reload, and a “typing” indicator is shown. Guests are isolated from each other: seeing someone else’s conversation is impossible.

## Abuse protection

Limits on message frequency and length are in effect. If a visitor writes too often, the page explains the reason right away and offers to send again. Access to someone else’s conversation is closed, and a non-existent conversation looks no different from someone else’s — you cannot tell from the reply whether such a conversation exists.

## Working with the operator

A conversation from the site reaches the operator with a channel tag and the full history. The operator’s reply arrives on the visitor’s page directly. All of it is in the [Inbox](/agents/chatbot/docs/inbox)
section, next to conversations from Telegram and the widget.

If you need chat not on a separate page but right on your website — read the [Website Widget](/agents/chatbot/docs/widget)
 section. About the operator’s work — [Inbox](/agents/chatbot/docs/inbox)
